DIY: Dandelion Crowns

Hi lovelies! Today's post is on how to make these awesome dandelion crowns! There are so many dandelions right now where I live, and I remember making dandelion crowns as a child. I looked at a couple of tutorials on blogs and on YouTube, but those seemed super complicated. I tried sewing the dandelions together, but because of how thin the stems are, any stitch I used just ripped the stem to shreds. Getting desperate, I tuned to my trusty hot glue gun. I found some ribbon, and I just sorted of winged it! Here's how I did it:

Supplies:
•about 30-40 dandelions - I used 30 on mine, but it's better to have more in case one gets ruined or is too small. The bigger the better!
•about 100 cm (40 in) white ribbon - I used plain white ribbon from the dollar store, but you can use any other color or pattern. If you use something like lace, though, just be careful that the glue doesn't go through and get stuck to your hair.
•scissors - regular kitchen scissors will work, just be sure to wash them before using them again
•hot glue gun - remember to turn it off once you're done!

Directions:
1. Gather your materials and prepare a workspace. Also plug in/turn on the glue gun at this time so it's nice and hot for gluing.

2. Cut your length of ribbon (enough to wrap around you head, and extra to tie the back), and select your dandelions.

3. Taking the two ends between you thumb and forefinger, find the center of your ribbon. This is where you'll place the first dandelion. On either side measure and equal amount. I used about 45 cm (18 in) of ribbon for the actual dandelions, the rest was just to tie off the ends.

4. Cut all of the stems off of the dandelions. Taking your scissors, cut just below the leaves around the base, any higher and all of the minuscule petals will be everywhere. Place the stems in a container for compost (or just throw them outside onto some grass). Try not to throw them away, though.

5. It's gluing time! Begin gluing down your dandelions about 1/2 inch away from each other. Do it one at a time, and make sure to press down firmly on the back of the ribbon so that it stays. Continue this until you get your desired length.

6. Turn off your glue gun and you're done! Enjoy your dandelion crown!

I hope you enjoyed this short little tutorial on how to make a dandelion crown :) They don't last very long at all, mine only lasted about four-five hours, but it's still really fun. You can now easily channel your inner flower child or Narnian princess. I also made a bracelet and a ring by using these same steps. Thanks so much for reading!

Trend Hunting: Graphic Prints from Louis Vuitton

Louis Vuitton, long known for their statement bags covered in their logo, have released a bunch of black an white checkered pieces for spring. Worn by Kendall Jenner (above left) and several other celebrities recently, this trend is proving to be a huge hit. It's bold yet clean and simple, and a fresher look than stripes. Pair these pieces with fun accessories, like red shoes or a bright blue clutch. And have fun!

April Favorites 2013

Hey lovelies! Long time no blog! Today I want to share my April favorites with you! I've been loving a bunch of different things this month, all beauty related. Here are my favorite things from April!

My first favorite for the month of April has been the Rosebud Strawberry Lip Balm and Moisturizer. It's a super moisturizing lip balm that smells like strawberries. Normally the scent of strawberries in products gives me a headache, but this smells so yummy I just wanna eat it! It's similar to the cult favorite Rosebud Lip Salve, but this one is distinctly different because of the smell and formula. Also, the packaging is just super adorable. I mean, doesn't that just make you want to get it?

My next favorite for this month has been the Benefit Watt's Up. It's a golden champagne highlighter stick that is super blendable and easy to apply. I received a sample from Sephora for my birthday, and I just started using it this past month. When I wear it, I apply a little bit to my cheekbones and temples, and sometimes even my browbone. Then I softly blend it into my skin. It gives a gorgeous luminous glow that looks lovely.

For the month of April I've also been loving my bareMinerals Matte Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15.  It's a fine powder that blends in to any skin type and feels like nothing is on your face at all. Mine is in the shade Medium C25, which is actually a bit too tan for me. I think that's because I purchased it in the summer when I was tanner. Or when I had a tan (too pale for life right now). It's fine though, because I can blend it out until it looks like my skin tone. With this product, you only need a teeny tiny bit, otherwise you'll look caked and fake.

Another favorite of mine this month is the Sally Hansen  Xtreme Wear Nail Color in 340 Mint Sorbet. It's a perfect mint polish for spring. Mint is actually one of my favorite colors EVER. This polish applies really well, and is totally opaque in just 2-3 coats. It has a shiny finish and alone lasts up to a week without chipping (it will last longer if you use a topcoat).

My last favorite for this past month has been the Bath & Body Works Fine Fragrance Mist in Pink Chiffon. It's described as "an ultra-feminine blend of Sparkling Red Pear, Vanilla Orchid and Whipped Chiffon Musk." It smells to me like super sweet flowers, but it's light enough for everyday wear.

Thanks so much for reading about my April Favorites! It's been an amazing month, and now it's finally warming up! Yay for spring weather!

what are your favorites from this past month?

NOTW: Essie Mojito Madness

Hey lovelies! Today's Nail Of The Week is by Essie. It's called Mojito Madness, and it's a perfect spring nail color. The pink polish around the edges is because of a crazy hot pink polish that exploded while traveling. :(

Mojito Madness is a bright, happy green color that pops no matter your skin tone. I've actually noticed that in different lighting it looks completely different. Weird, huh? I love it!

Essie nail polish retails for around $8, and you can get this nail polish here. It's a perfect color for St. Patricks' Day, so if you celebrate it check this color out!

Thanks for reading and have a lovely holiday!

Spring Jewelery For 2013

Hey Lovelies! Today I have some of the lovely jewelery I've been wearing for the springtime to show you! Accesories are really easy to work into your wardrobe or outfit, and I love these pieces!

These earrings are from Forever 21,and came in a set of 2 for two-three dollars. They're simple bow-shaped studs encrusted with fake diamonds. For studs, they're actually sorta heavy, but I love them anyway and will be wearing them all spring long!

This pearly bracelet is from Forever 21 and was under $5. The part that wraps around your wrist is a double strand of faux pearls that come together at the top. The flower part is net-ish with a tiny little pearl in the center. It almost looks like a corsage! LOL! I really like this bracelet because it doesn't pinch your skin like some stretchy bracelets do. Ya feel me?

The next thing I have isn't technically jewelery, but I've been wearing it a lot recently! I got it from Forever 21 (duh) for around $2. It's just bright cobalt blue bow hairclip that I love! It looks like one of the American apparel hair bows, but this one is wayyyy less expensive! I found a tutorial on Youtube on how to make these and I think it's a cool and fun idea!

My next item of jewelery is also from Forever 21 (wow 4 for 4!) and was $1.50. I KNOW RIGHT. They also had one in white, and I sorta want to go back there to get another. It's got a super long rose gold chain, which I like for pendant necklaces. It has a pinky pastel rose, a gold leaf, and a little pearl all clustered together. It's so so so cute and I've worn it a bajillion times already!

This next piece of jewelery is from Target. I purchased it a few years ago for $10 I think! it's an old-fashioned bicycle on another super long chain. It's a faded gold color and it goes with literally everything! I love it!

This last spring jewelery item is this classic jade necklace. I honestly have no idea if this is real jade, but my aunt gave it to me (thanks girl!) and it's gorgeous either way! It isn't long at all, but it is looser than a choker necklace. The clasp is a cute vintage flower charm and keeps the necklace on my neck! Betcha didn't know this... my name, Giada, is Italian, and the English version of it is Jade! So Jade is kinda my name too!

Thanks for reading! Have a lovely day!

February Favorites 2013

Hey Lovelies! Happy March! I've fallen in love with a ton of new products for the month of February. Some beauty products, and some random things! Let's get started!

My first favorite for the month of February is the LOLA perfume by Marc Jacobs. I recieved this as a birthday present and I couldn't have found a better perfume. According to the Sephora perfume experts, this scent is described as pink peppercorn, pear, and ruby grapefruit notes of vanilla and fuschia peony finish off the delicious scent. it's a very mature scent, but still very playful. I'm obsessed with it, and the packaging is amazingly fun.

My next favorite product is the EOS Lip Balm in Pomegrante Raspberry. I got this about a month ago, and I love it! It tastes so so so so so good and it really does work as a great moisturizer for your lips. I recently finished my green EOS, and I was so sad until I found this!

The last beauty product I've been loving this month is Benefit's Stay dont Stray. This is a sample I recieved with a purchase about a year ago, and I recently started using it. It keeps my shadow staying vibrant all day and it makes it last a really long time on my lids, so it defenitely works for me! I totally recommend this, and once i finish this this I will probably buy the full-size, even though it's sorta pricey, around $30.

My first non-beauty favorite for this month is this gorgeous little ring I found at Forever 21 for $1.50. I know. I KNOW. Its a rose gold ring with a heart covered in little fake diamonds. I wear it every single day on my left pointer finger. A few of the diamonds have since fallen out, which I kinda half-expected because of the inexpensiveness. I swiped some topcoat over the heart and now none of the diamonds are falling out! Yay!

My next random favorite is this star scarf from Target! I found this in the clearcance section for under $5 and I snapped it up! I'm obsessed with stars and this is gorgeous. It's a semi-sheer black cotton material with white stars printed all over it! I love wearing it with a plain white or black tee shirt, because it really makes an outfit. I love stars and I'll be looking for more star clothing items!

My next favorite are Chocolate Covered Craisins! Craisins are one of my favorite food and these are just the cherry on top... of the cranberry. It says that they're limited edition, but they've been in stores for years. They're relavitely inexpensive, and they are super good and curb my choclate cravings easily.

My last favorite for the month of February is this phone case I got from Claire's for around $2.50. It's Valentine's Day-inspired, but i love it anyway, and will probably use it for a long long time. It's rubber, instaed of the safer hard variety, but it's defenitely cute!

Also, check out this awesome blizzard that was in the background while I took my photos! I had a snow day today, yay! You should check out my Instagram where I post my actually good photos! It's @sheisathingofbeauty

Thanks for reading! I hope you have a nice day and if you live in the Midwest, be sure to be safe on the icy and snowy roads! I love you all and stay amazing! Happy March! Bye!
